You might remember some weeks ago I got lucky and flew to Mauritius to test the new Solana Beach Hotel. Solana Beach belongs to the new lifestyle chain Cooee which has 45 hotels currently around the globe located in paradise places like Spain, Africa, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and even Maldives.
The special thing about Cooee is that all properties fall in the 3-5 star segment but offering more affordable prices and a lifestyle concept focused on modern design. There are special amenities such as free wifi, the special Cooee lifestyle design and the snack bar with fresh smoothies and healthy snacks that can be experienced in all their properties.
Our property Solana Beach Hotel was located right on the beach of Belle Mare, one hour drive away from the airport of Mauritius and is an adult only property making it a romantic paradise getaway for couples or groups of friends. For Mauritius the hotel is rather small with 117 rooms only making the ways from pool to your room and room to the beach not too long 🙂
We got a room with a huge terrace overlooking the beach 🙂
Solana Beach Mauritius offers food choices from 2 restaurants, while we loved breakfast in the main restaurant and dinner at the a la carte restaurant we usually had just a snack such as a mediteranean panini for lunch from the Cooee Bistro next to the pool. The beach bar served coconuts and banana smoothis – you know by now I am addicted to banana smoothies – right to your sunbed on the beach.
During our week in Mauritius we were unlucky 2 days with the weather where we spent some time testing the massages at the Cooee Solana beach spa which were very relaxing especially after a long flight 🙂
The hotel also has a gym and offers water sport activities on the beach and specials such as the water breakfast with a table in the ocean for sunrise which we tried one day 🙂
Cooee Solana Beach is an affordable 4 star hotel right on the beach in Mauritius and stands out from the the other big high end properties on the island making Mauritius affordable also to younger people or for a friends getaway. Its perfect for travelers who want to explore Mauritius and relax on the beach prefering to stay in a smaller lifestyle boutique hotel.
How to get there:
We flew with Condor nonstop 11,5 hrs from Frankfurt. Another option is on Emirates via 1 stop in Dubai.
What else to do in Mauritus:
-My favorite excursion in Mauritus is getting on a boat or catamaran and cruise around Le Morne and all the little non touristy islands around where you will be the only one on the beach 🙂
-Visit the seven colores earth and waterfall in Chamarel in the southwest of Mauritius
-A trip to Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius. The city is not the most beautiful you will ever see but gives you an impression oft he local life in Mauritius and has lots of tradition.
All excursions can be booked directly at the excursions desk at Solana Beach 🙂
Thanks to Cooee Solana Beach. In collaboration with Cooee Hotels.
