Gypsy feeling @ Kanuhura Maldives

This place made it to be one of my favorites in the Maldives. The newly renovated Leading hotels of the world property has 65 rooms in the middle of the indian ocean. The design at Kanuhura is all in the sense of gypsy chic with lots of hammocks white and natural materials for a laid back and casual atmosphere.

Even though I am usually a fan of overwater bungalows in the Maldives property we decided on purpose to stay in a Retreat Beach Pool Villa at Kanuhura as it’s the highest category of rooms here and even though they also have overwater bungalows the resort is one of the few hotels in the Maldives that set the focus on their beach bungalows. And let me tell you I know why. The moment I stepped in our room I was in love. All designed in white colors with big pool, beach bed, private beach area and outdoor bathroom it felt immediately like a home away from home. The water just steps away and surrounded by palm trees and lush garden its perfect for all beach lovers who love to spend their holiday at the most beautiful island with the ocean all to yourself just a few barefeet steps away.

The island feels like a small village with little shops and a diner for inbetween snacks so grab your bike and cruise around the island. The sunset bar with lots of hammocks and a tipi tent is also a great place to relax and chillout. Another highlight is the restaurant on a private island where a boat will take you too which we did for lunch and was great to unwind.

The breakfast buffet – oh how could I not have spoken about that yet as a breakfast lover 🙂  They have everything. Whatever you like and desire they have it. My favorite station was the fresh smoothie station with all kinds of fruits. They also have a “ fridge room “ how I called it, a room which has all cooled items such like cereals or cakes and ice cream in the evenings.

Pasta lovers also get their fair share in the Italian restaurant that offers lot of specialties like squid pasta and a special wine selection. The best part about the restaurants was that the atmosphere is super casual wherever you go. It’s not only a place for couples but also for a group of friends or families.

The entire boho atmosphere in the resort reminded me a bit of Tulum Mexico 🙂 Another thing I loved about the place is the long stretched out beaches surrounding the island which is quite rare for the Maldives as its mostly short strips of sand.

Kanuhura Maldives is surrounded by a chic 5 star hippie vibe and is a place where you would love to beam yourself back to in a second.

How to get there:

We flew with Condor nonstop from Frankfurt to Male. From Male it’s a 30 minute seaplane ride to the hotel. Kanuhura has a stylish lounge at the airport with sofa areas, showers, wifi and free snacks that makes the time between the transfers fly by 🙂
