I was lucky to be selected to attend Mercedes Benz Fashion week Berlin for Etihad Airways and airberlin, the official airline partners of the event.
Together with a friend I catched a 6 am flight with airberlin from Cologne to Berlin where the event took place. The first show started at 10 am so we had a little time to relax in the IMG lounge where they served snacks and delicious smoothies.
The first show was the „Jeans for refugees“ show by designer Johny Dar, a global inititative many celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Anna Wintour, Elton John, Usher and Ryan Gosling took part in. 100 international celebrites donated a pair of their private jeans to the designer for him to create a piece of art out of it. The jeans will be auctioned in October in London with the aim to raise money to help refugees from all over the world. The designs from the show were very colorful and unique, special highlight was model Anna von Rüden walking the runway at age of 65.
After the show we rushed to the next event on the agenda, the Gala Fashion brunch taking place at Ellington hotel. The event brings together many people from the fashion and entertainment industry in relaxed atmosphere. The weather was wonderful so we enjoyed some drinks and snacks on the outside terrace before heading back to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week tent.
In between shows there are some fun activities waiting for you at the exhibition parcour. I tested the new Etihad Airways flight experience through virtual reality glasses and it felt so real being beamed right into that plane experiencing the flight with a 360 degree view and sound. A quick stop at Maybelline to get the makeup pimped and it was time to attend the next show. Cushnie et Ochs from New York managed to only take seconds to make me fall in love with their new collection. Most of you will know my love for dresses and all of their dresses in the collection were so elegant and simply beautiful.
And just as I pinched myself we were already sitting in our airberlin seats again flying safely back to Cologne.
